Morgan was featured in a short film that was about AIDS awareness and prevention, Safe Sex for Men and Women. Morgan gave a percentage of her income towards the American Foundation for AIDS Research. Morgan is also a member of the Entertainment Industry AIDS Task Force. Morgan was the main force behind many fund-raising campaigns for the spread of the disease. She also addressed an Congressional special committee on AIDS education. Morgan is a member of the Board of Governors of APLA, and of Amfar's Board of Directors. The former Surgeon General C. Everett Koop has asked her on occasion to fill in for him in AIDS events and she has been the host of an AIDS Awareness Special with anchorman Steve Bell. Ted Koppell and Morgan have been on Nightline at least twice, to discuss AIDS. Morgan was awarded the Emmy nomination for a particular episode on Murphy Brown written for her by Diane English.
